Teacher: Timothy Hommowun

Bio: A graduate of St. Charles East High School, Timothy Hommowun has completed his sophomore year studying oboe performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. At Eastman, he performs four concerts each semester with the Eastman Wind Orchestra and the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, in which he has had experience playing principal oboe, second oboe, and English horn. He also plays in a wind quintet and has played with the Eastman Repertory Singers, Eastman/Rochester Chorus (with the ESSO), and Ossia (Eastman’s student-run new music ensemble). Timothy also has considerable experience playing in pit orchestras. In the Chicago area, Timothy has played in pit orchestras for Saint Charles East High School, Vero Voce Theater, Kaneland Arts Initiative (formerly Kaneland Community Fine Arts Festival), and Rising Star Theaterworks, as well as the Illinois High School Theater Festival’s All-State production of Pippin and other occasional shows elsewhere. In addition to the oboe, Timothy plays English horn, oboe d’amore, baroque oboe, and bass/baritone oboe, as well as saxophone, clarinet, and cello. He also has an interest in arranging music, premiering an arrangement of Faure’s “Elegie” (originally for cello and piano) for bass oboe, flute, clarinet, and horn last year when his quintet lacked a bassoon player.

Cinderella Screen copy

The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Its recreation in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true, and so was a second remake in 1997, which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits.
In this specially created G2K version, all the beloved songs and familiar characters are present and accounted for. However, the entire script has been condensed to better suit young attention spans, and the plot has been slightly altered so as to highlight some important lessons that exist in this timeless tale.
